Clear PDF — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Clear PDF puts a PDF on a Wix site. This policy says what it does with data. It is short because the app does very little with data, and every sentence here was checked against the code rather than copied from a template.

The short version

Clear PDF collects no personal information about anyone — not about the site owner, and not about their visitors. It stores no names, no email addresses, no IP addresses, and no identifiers of any kind. It sets no cookies, writes nothing into a visitor's browser, and runs no analytics or tracking of its own.

One thing does leave your site, and only when you ask for it: a file you choose to convert into a PDF. That is described in full below.

What is stored, and where

The documents you set up. When you add a document, its settings are saved in a collection called Documents in your own Wix site, and any shelves you build in a collection called Shelves. Both live in your site's own CMS, under your Wix account. We do not hold a copy anywhere.

Those rows contain only:

Nothing in that list is personal information about you or anyone else.

Your PDF file itself never moves. The app stores a link to the file you already uploaded to your own Wix Media Manager. It is never copied to us, never re-uploaded, and never stored anywhere else. This is why there is no size limit and no watermark: there is no storage of ours involved. Replace the file in your Media Manager and the page shows the new version.

What the app sends over the network

When a page with a document loads, the app asks your Wix site for that document's settings, so it knows what to draw, and then fetches the PDF from your site's own address. Both requests go to Wix, not to us, and carry nothing about the visitor.

The viewer itself (pdf.js) is fetched from this app's own hosting rather than from a public CDN, so a visitor's browser contacts no third party. No fonts are loaded from Google or anywhere else.

A visitor's browser makes no other requests on this app's behalf.

Converting a Word, PowerPoint or Excel file

This is the one time a file of yours leaves your site, and it happens only when you choose it from your dashboard. Visitors are never involved and cannot trigger it.

What happens. The file is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our converter, which runs on Fly.io in Tokyo at clear-convert.fly.dev. There it is held in memory, opened by LibreOffice, turned into a PDF, and the PDF is sent straight back to your browser as a download.

It is never written to a disk. The converter works in a RAM-backed folder (/dev/shm), not on the machine's storage, and LibreOffice's own temporary files are sent to the same place. Nothing about your file reaches a drive at any point.

What is kept: nothing. The working folder is deleted the moment the conversion finishes — including when it fails or times out. There is no database, no file storage and no backup in that service; there is nothing in it that could hold a file. Neither the name of your file nor any part of its contents is written to a log.

What travels with the file. Your upload carries a short-lived signed ticket, valid for ten minutes, which exists so that strangers cannot use the converter. The ticket contains an identifier for your Wix account and an expiry time, and nothing else. It is not stored.

What we do not do. The converted PDF is handed to you as a download. We do not put it into your Media Manager, and the app never asks for permission to write there.

What the app can see on your site

Clear PDF asks for one permission: permission to read your Media Manager, so the dashboard can show you a list of your own PDFs to choose from. It is read-only. The app cannot add, change, move or delete anything in your Media Manager, and it does not read the contents of your files — only their names and addresses, so it can list them.

Cookies

None. Clear PDF sets no cookies, which is why it needs no cookie banner. It also writes nothing into a visitor's localStorage or any other browser storage.

Who can see your data

Your documents and shelves are readable by visitors to your site, because the viewer has to read them in order to draw itself on the page. This is why nothing personal is ever put in them.

Your PDF files are as public or as private as you have made them in your own Media Manager. The app does not change that.

We do not sell, share, or transfer data to anyone. There is nothing to sell.

Deleting your data

Delete a document or a shelf on the app's Documents page and the row is gone from your site's collection. Your PDF stays in your Media Manager, because it was always yours and we never had a copy.

When you uninstall

Your collections and their contents stay on your site. Uninstalling does not delete your documents, and it never touches your Media Manager. If you want the rows gone, delete the collections in your site's Content Manager.

Note: Wix removes an app's collections from a site when the site updates to a version of the app that no longer defines them. That is a Wix mechanism, not something this app triggers.

Children

Clear PDF is a tool for site owners. It is not directed at children and collects no information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this app starts handling data differently, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
